I began working with Mr. Scott in high school when I joined Novae, an after-school A Cappella group. I started as a very shy singer, and I was quickly challenged to step out of my comfort zone. This was such a blessing! The encouragement of Mr. Scott and the relationships I built within the group allowed me to do what I loved while growing confidence in myself. Now that I am in Prime, I am able to build on those learned skills to become the best version of myself. I love being surrounded by others who love singing as much as I do! We are like a family, and those lifelong relationships are rare. From learning new arrangements, recording songs for an album, and filming music videos, I am living my dream! Auditioning for Prime was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
- Heaven Allen (Novae '18-'19, Prime '23-'25)
I spent two years in Prime. Being in a cappella shaped me into the person I am now, Mr Scott being the influence of it all. His dedication and encouragement was all it took for me to fall in love with a cappella and appreciate the music even more. I loved the coaching, rehearsing, recording and performing that Prime provided for me. Not only did I discover my passion and voice, but I also discovered who I am and who I want to be. I've known Mr Scott since I was young, and he has helped me with more than he knows. Because of him and Prime I am able to share my voice and story with every audience! He is such a great mentor, "Aca-Dad", and leader. Prime was an amazing experience that I will miss so much. I fit into a family, which is something rare and amazing. I'll never forget what I learned through my years here and will dedicate what I do in the future to everyone who has helped me and encouraged me throughout the way. Thank you Mr Scott for always believing in me and being the best director and friend I could ask for! Prime out!
- Lila Hilliard (Prime '21-'23)
I’d like to thank Mr. Scott so incredibly much for the countless hours of hard work and effort he has put into Prime! Mr. Scott has never once given up on this group and continues to make each and every one of us members feel loved and welcomed. The environment he creates is so lovely even when the team is under a lot of stress. The group members have been nothing but loving, supportive, and a family to me - and that’s an understatement. I know I’ve only been in Prime for one year, but it’s still so easy to see that this group will do wonders, especially with a director like Mr. Scott! With that, I’d like to say thank you to Mr. Scott and thank you to the rest of my peers as well. Not just for an amazing year, but for the amazing memories we’ve all created together whether they were happy, sad, and sometimes irritating. Thank you all :)
IT’S PRIME TIME BABY!
- Cole Howard (Prime '22-'25)
I can’t begin to express my appreciation for all Mr. Scott has done for Prime this year. Each rehearsal he brings genuine dedication and respect for the group. It’s evident how much he truly cares about the students. Prime and Mr. Scott’s leadership has allowed me to grow immensely in confidence. A year ago I was so afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone and trying a cappella or singing solos. Now, I can’t believe how much braver I am. Prime has allowed me to discover a passion for a cappella that I plan to continue in college next year. Without doubt, Prime is the best thing I’ve done in high school. To anyone thinking about auditioning for Prime, I urge you to go for it. Don’t let this incredible experience pass you by!
- Andrea Navarra (Prime '22-'23)
Prime is a life changing experience for a young person. Mr. Scott is by far one of the most compassionate people I’ve ever known, and the level of training he provides is unparalleled. Mr. Scott helped me through a really challenging year, and never let me hang my head. It’s thanks to him that I’ve developed newfound confidence in my voice as well as who I am. Getting to work with some phenomenally talented people and really just do what I love has been such a treat this year. I’ve always been of the opinion that each individual decides how much to invest in any musical group or production - and that investment reflects on the final product as a group. And yet despite an insanely challenging season, Mr. Scott put in everything he had to give us a wonderful year as a group. Thank you Prime, and thank you Mr. Scott!
- Patrick Comunale (Prime '22-'23)
I was a member of Prime for two exciting years. During my time in Prime I had a blast making music, videos, and unforgettable memories with a lot of amazing people. I had so many incredible experiences in this group, and Mr Scott always tried to make rehearsals fun and engaging. Prime was not only a place where I could sing and develop my talents - it became my second family.
- Ava Bressler (Prime '21-'23)
Prime A Capella has been a blessing in disguise. It is directed by one of the sweetest, most understanding guys in the world. Mr. Scott has changed my life, honestly, both musically and mentally. I really cannot explain how much I appreciate him and everything he has done for the group. Any time you are around him you can't be anything but happy, there has always been a smile on my face when he is around. I have so much more to say, but thank you so much Mr. Scott for an amazing year.
- Gabe Clark (Prime '22-'25)
Mr Scott has a genuine, obvious passion for a cappella and our kids. His leadership during such a challenging year, has definitely been one of the bright spots in my daughter's life. He has a real heart for leading our kids well, very flexible and is committed to providing them a positive, rich a cappella experience under his stewardship. He leads by example and always has our students top of mind when making decisions. As a parent, I couldn't ask for anything more than that. Mr. Scott's professionalism, standard of excellence and genuine concern for our students come through loud and clear in all of his interactions. He is a first-class leader.
- Felicia Davis (Prime Parent '20-'21)
Prime has been such an incredible experience for me this year. When I first walked into our rehearsal room, I was really nervous about meeting everyone, and in particular Mr. Scott, who I’d heard amazing reviews from. However, Mr. Scott made Prime a welcoming, safe space where we could both work hard and play hard. He expected only good things from us, which pushed us all in turn to give 100% effort in rehearsals so that way we could perform to the best of our abilities. Even on the long rehearsals days, the group leaned on each other and I can say without a doubt that we grew from somewhat strangers to a family. Prime has been an experience that I will cherish not only for what it taught me about venturing outside of my comfort zone, but also for the family I got out of it.
- Grace Muriithi (Prime '20-'21)
Being a part of prime and working with Mr Scott has been such a great experience for me. Mr Scott truly cares about not only this group but every individual as well, and will go great lengths to ensure our success and happiness. I love each and every member of this group and being in Prime has not only helped me grow as a musician but as a person too. I could not have asked for a better director or group to be in.
- Jack Cawthon (Prime '20-'21)
"I only worked with Mr. Scott for a year, but it was one of the most impactful years of my life. I saw how he treated everyone with kindness and respect. Through him, I found not only growth as a musician, but growth as a person. I now have a better grasp on my musical talent because of him. He also created an environment where our a cappella group became a second family to us."
- Julian Massey (Novae '18-'20, Prime '20-'22, '23-'25)
"Working with Mr. Scott was truly such a fun experience! He’s a great role model, teacher, and motivator. I loved being in Novae so much. The group gave me something to look forward to every week. We all became close friends so quickly. It’s crazy to think about how music can really bring people together. Novae also gave me a lot of cool experiences not all high school students get to say they’ve done. We got to record songs, we made an album, and we got to make a music video which I still watch on repeat to this day. My favorite performance we did has to be the Nordonia Aca Fest! The crowd was going wild and that’s when I think we all realized how thankful we were to have been apart of such an amazing group. Novae 18-19 will always have a special place in my heart and I would give anything to perform one more time with them."
- Grace Gamble (Novae '18-'19)
"Working with Mr. Scott really helped me as a musician and as a person. Mr. Scott (a.k.a. Scotty) has helped me overcome my obstacles in a cappella, helping me learn new techniques, read music, get along with other group members, etc. Mr. Scott's energy in rehearsal is something I've always looked forward to more than the music because it's what makes rehearsal fun, and what keeps everybody's spirits up. If anyone has the chance to work with such a great guy, be thankful! You'll probably never meet or work with anyone like him."
- Austin Lim (Novae '17-'19)
"I skipped my first day of Novae rehearsals, because I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I had never been in the same room where everyone had the same passion as me. But, after I understood the intention -- I worked my butt off everyday trying to be the best I can. I sang every free minute I had; while also dealing with a lot of anxiety and stress, I felt like I had no support from anyone. Word of advice, if you’re never chosen to be the person for your desired role, and it’s hard I know; your first rejection won’t be your last. Adam Scott is without a doubt the father, motivator, and role model I wish I had. He taught me that you have to show you have this sense of grit, and integrity to display that you yourself are auditioning for the right reason, love of music, and to be grateful and to treasure the experience he had chosen to include me in. Novae was everything to me, I’d do anything to sing with them again."
- Gabe Ikan (Novae Member '17-'20)
"Being apart of an a cappella group at my high school completely changed my high school experience. The memories I made I wouldn’t change for anything. Mr. Scott is like a second father to me, he is always so supportive and he wants the best for everyone he works with. Challenging music, performing, and the opportunity to record are all some amazing reasons to join Prime (or any a cappella group really), but the main thing I got out of my time in the a cappella world was a sense of community. I was never alone in anything I went through. This family got me through a lot and I loved every minute - even the long days."
- Loden Paul (Novae '17-'19)
"From an a cappella student-parent perspective, you will not find a more caring, genuine, dedicated individual to educate your kids in music (and life) than Adam Scott. His sole focus is on bringing the best experience to the group and enabling each child to be as successful as they are willing to be! A consummate professional with years of musical experience (both performing end educating)…always maintains a smile and positive encouragement for each and every member of the group. Our daughter, Aeryn, was only in Novae for a single year, but she still looks back on that one year as one of the best of her 15 years! Not only was she pushed outside of her comfort zone musically, she also established lifelong friendships with many members of the group. Singing for local retirement communities at Christmas, professionally recording audio, making a video, and competing against local, regional, and national a Cappella groups are some of her favorite memories! I can’t stress enough what a positive experience this group delivered for each member…top-to-bottom…the smiles never stopped…and boy-oh-boy could they SING! I’ll never forget the performance at Nordonia…the crowd was ALIVE with their performance of the Evolution of Hollywood…it was AWESOME!! But even better than that moment with the crowd, was the quiet moment (tears included) that the group had afterward knowing it was their last formal performance of the year…sad, but extremely gratifying! As a parent, I can’t stress enough the positive impact that Scotty brought to the group delivering a lifetime treasure for our daughter!"
