A Greater Dayton Area Pop A Cappella Education Program
Prime A Cappella is a non-profit, mixed voice a cappella program for university level and high school students in the Greater Dayton Ohio area. Prime was initially founded as an after school performance program exclusively for Centerville High School, but starting Fall of 2023 auditions were modified to invite all students from Southwest Ohio. Prime's "season" follows the typical school year and disbands every summer with annual auditions determining each season's membership.
Prime A Cappella's musical style is centered around contemporary, pop a cappella (think Pentatonix), in which all rhythm and sound is produced with the human voice and mouth. As such, Prime learns and performs today's most challenging multi-part, a cappella arrangements. Since the group rehearses weekly and in the evening, individual preparation and commitment outside of rehearsal is paramount for group success.
We believe your experience with Prime will be challenging, inspiring, and uniquely educational. Read about previous member experiences (students and parents) who have worked with us in the past!
Music and performance education is our core focus. In addition to learning today's most challenging arrangements, Prime A Cappella members will receive clinics and workshops from some of the top names in the industry.
Vocal technique and group blend are just the beginning. Honing the craft of stage performance will be a regular component to Prime's rehearsal schedule.
From the studio to the streets, Prime A Cappella will produce professional audio and video media.
As Prime gains momentum, competing in both regional and national competitions will become a yearly focus and goal.
It's our belief that service and leadership go hand-in-hand. Whether performing for the community or promoting the arts, a service oriented attitude will always be a fundamental requirement for Prime membership.
