Prime A Cappella Auditions

***This year’s in-person auditions will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 6:00 PM.***

Prime is always on the lookout for top voices and talent. While our main audition season usually happens in late spring or summer to align with the school year, auditions are open year-round - so there’s no need to wait!

Membership is considered on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you’re ready to try out, follow the link below to reserve your spot. Audition videos may be submitted either by email (primeacappella@gmail.com) or as an unlisted YouTube link.

Song Selection: Prepare at least one song to be sung a cappella (without accompaniment or background music). Usually, one verse and one chorus will suffice. We want to hear songs that best showcase the strengths of your voice - so go all out! We mostly listen for pitch, vocal placement, and tone, but your personality and overall presentation are also important. Please, no classical or opera music, but musical theater is acceptable. If you're auditioning for Vocal Percussion/Beatboxing, the focus should be in rhythm and technique.

How To Submit A Video Audition: It's pretty simple! Record a video of yourself singing (or beatboxing). Then, you can either email the video directly to us or upload it to YouTube as an unlisted video and email us the link. (Title the video with your full name and the name of the song in the description.)

In-Person Auditions: We host one dedicated day of live auditions each year. To participate, simply complete the audition form above, and we’ll send you the audition location details.

Come prepared to:

• Sing a solo piece (one verse and one chorus)
• Learn and perform at least one voice part from the Group Song on the Learning Tracks page of the website (see below).

Group Song: As a part of auditions, there will be one song that all singers will learn. Select and learn your preferred voice part (other than the solo line) and come prepared to sing that part alone and/or in a small group.
